Orioles manager Brandon Hyde, who was the runner-up to Terry Francona in the 2022 election, was named the American League Manager of the Year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hyde is the ninth Manager of the Year Award winner who did not play in the major leagues. The others: four-time winner Buck Showalter, three-time winners Jim Leyland and Joe Maddon, two-time winner Jack McKeon as well as Jim Frey, John McNamara, Brian Snitker and Mike Schildt. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is the fourth time a Baltimore manager has been honored. The others: Frank Robinson (1989), Davey Johnson (1997) and Buck Showalter (2014). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hyde was the only manager named on every ballot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
